NAPLES. AICAP (Italian Association of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete) has awarded the 2022 prize for the best reinforced concrete work, belonging to the “Buildings” category, to the intervention on slope, with a multi-storey underground garage and art gallery, promoted by F.A.I.T. in Cortina D’Ampezzo (BL), whose structures were designed by the Botteniga Associati studio of Treviso (formerly Siges S.r.l.) and built by the Fontana S.r.l. company of Belluno.
As part of the congress called Italian Concrete Conference 2022, which was held in Naples on 12-15 October 2022, the professionals of Botteniga Associati collected the award for a work which – as stated in the text of the motivation of the Jury, presided by Prof. Ing. Marco Menegotto – “represents a valid example of the indispensable use of concrete in certain types of structures, specifically those in contact with the soil and occasionally with water, as well as requiring safe fire resistance”.
The professionals from Treviso were keen to point out that “it was the effective and coordinated teamwork, i.e. of the team of designers and all workers, the essential element that led to the success in the realization of a particularly complex work. It is thanks to all those who, in their various roles, participated in the design and construction that it was possible to carry out this important work”.
The multi-storey building, winner of the award, is located in the historic centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, opposite the Basilica and Corso Italia and integrates an exhibition hall of Farsetti Arte, a private garage with 7 underground floors, for a total of 129 parking spaces and various public spaces such as a square, a panoramic lift for the vertical connection between the public square and the underlying Via del Parco, and underground parking available to the Municipality.
The garage structure, with a volume of 26,000 cubic meters, is built it is built facing the soil and has the important function of stabilizing the slope, accompanying the difference in height of the ground and acting as a containment.
The work was awarded, concludes the jury’s motivational note, also by virtue of its fitting “harmoniously into the valuable and delicate context, with its well-adapted form in plan and elevation”, and for its use in the construction phase of “relevant technological devices”.
All this implies that the work is considered worthy of the qualification of work of excellence.
